HEMS (Helicopter Emergency Medical Service) Doctors ARHT is proud to be working with Auckland District Health Board (ADHB) on a two-year pilot to bring Emergency Medicine and Critical Care Doctors on-board to work alongside our Advanced Paramedics. Chris Denny Chis comes to us from Canada where he worked as a trauma team-leader and flight physician in Toronto, Ontario.
Tim Parke Tim is an emergency physician with additional training in intensive care medicine. He works as the clinical director of the Adult Emergency Department of Auckland Hospital and has been an ARHT HEMS doctor since the start of the pilot scheme in Sept 2011. Originally from Belfast, Northern Ireland, he has previously worked in aeromedical rescue and retrieval in Scotland. He prefers the sea temperatures in NZ! Alana Harper Alana is an Advanced Trainee in Emergency Medicine at the Auckland City Hospital. Andy Ketchin
Andy Ketchin is New Zealands only full time Retrieval Registrar, working with ARHT in this role. He is a UK doctor, and has trained in South Island, moving to Auckland to complete his Emergency Medicine training.
Cameron Rosie Mike Nicholls Mike is an emergency physician at Auckland City Hospital. He has been part of the HEMS initiative since it's inception.
Having worked in the UK, Australia, and New Zealand, Scott became an emergency physician at Auckland Hospital. He developed an interest in aeromedical work while doing retrievals for the paediatric ICU at Starship Hospital, and has been with the HEMS initiative since its inception. He has an interest in education and runs the aucklandhems.com website. James LeFevre James was born and raised in Auckland. He has previously worked in Wanganui Hospital, a number of hospitals in Australia, and is currently an Emergency medicine registrar at Auckland City Hospital.
Sam Bendall joined us in the third quarter of 2012 for a year from Sydney where she worked as an Emergency Physician and a Retrieval Specialist for CareFlight NSW. She is also the deputy director of education for CareFlight NSW and has a strong interest in education and simulation. Sam is thrilled to be part of the HEMS and the Auckland City Hospital ED teams. David is a lifelong Aucklander with a passion for acute care medicine and the outdoors raising a young family in the city of sails. Tony Smith Tony is the clinical director for St John and is an intensive care medicine specialist at Auckland Hospital. Shay McGuinness Detail coming soon.
