The Hirepool Leigh Fishing Contest is our iconic annual fishing event, just an hour north of Auckland in Leigh.

The Hirepool Leigh Fishing Contest is our iconic annual fishing event, just an hour north of Auckland in Leigh. It is a great chance for anglers of all ages & experience to visit one of NZ's friendliest communities all in the name of charity.

The Leigh Family Fishing Contest has been running for 13 years and is a vital source of community funding for the rescue chopper. With 750 anglers the tournament continues to grow thanks to the likes of our wonderful sponsors Surtees and Honda Marine. Without their amazing first prize of a 4.95m workmate & outboard package this event would not be the same. This year we also welcome Top Catch, Navstation and Okuma to the sponsor family - helping us ensure that this event will be the best yet.

100% of proceeds are donated to the rescue chopper and other Leigh local community causes. In the past 5 years over $200,000 has been raised for these causes thanks to the participation of our wonderful sponsors and generous participants on the day. Make sure you get your tickets for the whole family on March 17th 2018, there is sure to be something for everyone.

There is over $70,000 worth of cash & prizes up for grabs at this event and all prizes must go. If you're a keen fisherman you simply must get along and enjoy the weekend.
