A handful of crew recently headed out to Bethells Beach for a joint rescue training session alongside Bethells Beach Surf Life Saving Patrol and Surf Life Saving New Zealand. With summer on the doorstep and beach activity increasing, it was an ideal opportunity for all teams to come together and sharpen the skills that help keep people safe on our coastline.
The session focused on strengthening communication, building trust, and understanding each organisation’s capabilities in dynamic coastal environments. From coordinating mock scenarios to refining extraction techniques and confirming key handover points, the training ensured everyone involved had clarity on how we work together when time is critical.
For our crew, operating in partnership with Surf Life Saving teams is essential. They’re often first on scene, providing vital information, initial care, and local knowledge that helps guide our response from the air. Training together reinforces those relationships and ensures that when a real emergency unfolds, everyone is aligned, confident, and able to act swiftly.
Collaboration like this keeps all of us sharp and connected, helping ensure the best possible outcomes for patients no matter the conditions or complexity of the mission.
