Game Changer for Crew Training

Our new Rear Cabin Procedure Trainer (RCPT) was recently installed at Ardmore Base thanks to the incredible work by Culham Engineering in Whangārei.

The RCPT is a game changer for us as it allows training to take place without the need to utilise operational aircraft, preserving critical assets and reducing costs. Crews can engage in procedures and refine technical skills without incurring the fuel use, hoist wear, and scheduling complexity associated with live flying. This contributes to greater operational efficiency, reduced environmental impact and extended aircraft life.

Designed to accurately replicate the AW169's cabin dimensions and layout, the trainer includes key features such as low-light simulation, an elevated winch platform, and simulated rotor downwash. These elements enable a range of realistic clinical and operational scenarios. This allows us to train in a safe and highly effective way, whilst remaining on the ground in a controlled environment.
