We were proud to return to beautiful Waiheke Island for another unforgettable Man O’ War Charity Lunch.
Set against the stunning backdrop of Man O' War Bay, guests enjoyed an incredible afternoon of world-class food from renowned chefs, exceptional wines an incredible live band and the much anticipated 'Diamond in the Bubbles' where guests purchase a glass of bubbles containing either a cubic zirconia or a $10,000 diamond.
Dominika Nowosadko-Teh’s husband had chosen and purchased her a glass of bubbles that day. As the afternoon drew to a close the crew were leaving so Dominika walked over to chat to them and check out the aircraft. Upon her return the group she was with decided to leave early so she didn’t have a chance to check the stone. Her husband had said, “No, don’t worry, this can’t be a diamond. I mean, what are the chances?’, so Dominika didn’t think about it for another day or two.
However, she couldn’t shake the feeling that the stone was indeed something special. So, trusting her instincts she got it checked by Sutcliffe Jewellers and had her suspicions confirmed. It was indeed the diamond.
“I am one lucky and happy wife.” she said.
To cap off the day, one of our helicopters made a special flyover, an unforgettable moment that brought everything back to why we were there - raising money to help save lives.
Thanks to the incredible support of our guests, chefs, sponsors and supporters, we’re thrilled to share that this year’s event raised over $270,000 for our rescue helicopter service. Events like this simply wouldn't be possible without continued community support and we are so grateful. Congratulations to Dominika, we hope she enjoys her stunning diamond for many years to come.
