Woman rescued after falling into water tank while cleaning it - Stuff

A woman in her 70s was rescued by a helicopter crew and firefighters after she fell off a ladder into a water tank.

The woman was cleaning the water tank on Kawau Island, in Auckland's Hauraki Gulf, when she fell.

A crew from the Auckland Rescue Helicopter Trust and local firefighters rescued her from the tank on Wednesday.

She was then taken by boat to the waiting rescue helicopter.

The helicopter flew her to North Shore Hospital in a "moderate condition".

The woman's fall comes as at least 20,000 Aucklanders living in west, north west and northern parts of Auckland are affected by long waits for water.
